The first thing you will notice with these boots is the weight. They are incredibly light for the temperature rating (-40ºC). Personally, I wouldn't say they are -40º rated. Maybe in extreme cases, but for the average user -30º is the comfort threshold. I bought a half size up, to accommodate using a vapour barrier and 2 pairs of socks (liner, and thick wool). I have walked well over 100km in these boots, and travelled far over 1000kms by bike with these. The only wear and tear visible after 2 years of use is where the top of the tongue connects with the boot. Friction is rubbing through, but I don't believe it will be an issue. And as for waterproofing, I have put my foot into several creeks and rivers in deep Canadian winter, with zero water entering the boot. Glad to have confidence when fat biking on frozen bodies of water that these will keep me safe.

I have bought 3 pairs of these over the last 10 years. The first pair was great, lasted 5 years and was super warm. Then I bought another pair, the design had changed, in the second winter the seems on the outside of the boot gave and the fabric near the heel developed a hole. I though maybe it was my Fault, so I bought another pair. This pair tore at the seams on the back of the boot as you put your foot in, but only on one boot. Because of the way the boot failed I cannot put it on because my heel pushes the insulation down which bunches up and leaves no room for my foot. I decided to try the warranty with salomon. They did not stand behind their product and told me it was my fault.

Bonjour. Je vous recommande ces bottes fortement pour une utilisation de courte durée. En effet, je n'ai JAMAIS eu des bottes aussi chaudes. Malheureusement, un défaut de conception cause le cuir du dessus de la botte à fendre. Voyez les photos. Je ne racheterais pas ce modèle puisque j'avais investi un montant important en espérant que ces bottes pouvaient être fiables pour au moins 10 ans. Hello. I highly recommend these boots for short term use. Indeed, I have NEVER had such warm boots. Unfortunately, a design flaw causes the upper leather of the boot to split. See the pictures. I would not repurchase this model since I was hoping that these boots could be reliable for at least 10 years.

Après seulement 2 hiver, la bottes à ouvert. Probablement un mauvais design. Vraiment dommage parce que le modèle précédent m'a durée plus de 10 ans. Merci a MEC pour le remboursement. J'ai mis une photo de la semelle pour vous montrer à quel point les bottes n'étaient vraiment pas usées.

I have used these occasionally for 1 winter, so can't comment on their long-term durability. They are comfortable and warm and when purchased on sale they are a great value.
