After 33 miles, these didn’t cut it. The upper delaminated within a few miles, and they don’t breathe at all. My feet were soaking wet and hot the entire run. The grip on downhill is great, but that can’t make up for durability and lack of breathability

I’ve been struggling finding a shoe that works for me consistently. I switched away from these for a while because I have a wide midfoot. Tried these out again and I am completely in love.

I am so disappointed with the Hoka Speedgoats. I’ve been trail running in them since the 3s. The 6 and 7 models have been so poorly made. The fabric starts pulling apart from the sole and I’ve had to return them a month or two later. The 7 is very comfy, but should not be falling apart after running in them for 2 weeks.

I bought a pair in late March 2026. I wore them less than 125 miles on light terrain and they were coming apart where the front attached flare meets the sole at the spot just behind your front big toe on the instep. So using Rei's excellent return policy I returned them thinking they were a lemon. At that time I got another identical pair. That was May 4. After less than 200 miles of light wear with just some rough trail wear these have come apart too. They are beginning to separate at the same place and the canvas ripped on the outer side of the foot behind my little toe. Looking at reviews I see this is happening to a number of customers. They lasted me less than 4 months! I'm done. I'm taking them back and exchanging for something else. Hoka missed the mark on the 7's. Poor construction. Great traction, nice drop, excellent cushioning, but shoddy materials. Being my first attempts at Hoka I probably won't try them again.

Wasn’t expecting to be this disappointed with these shoes. The photos I’m showing are from after only 70 miles of use in the Sierra mountains. At multiple points on the shoe, parts of it are already coming undone. Most backpackers usually expect their shoes to last it at least a few hundred miles, so unfortunately I wouldn’t really recommend these. Especially not after spending almost $200 on them for not even a weeklong backpacking trip. Pros: I would say they’re pretty comfortable, though I did have issues with the back-lip of the shoe digging into my Achilles towards the end of my trip which added extra foot pain.
