Tamron does it again, this lens is light tight and right. Shooting at a constant F4 is fun and fast. I tend to shoot musicians in poorly lit clubs and this lens makes the most of the light. The lens weight is great to work with, the price point was awesome. You owe it to yourself to check it out-I bet you buy it.

Good image quality, light and relatively small, good price. If you do not need f/2.8 this is ideal for travels. However, it does not seem to work with the new Nikon Z cameras. The Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 (G2) will work ! May be a future firmware update by Tamron will solve this.

Having been a professional photographer for 20+ years I have only ever considered name brand lenses. Nikon when I shot Nikon, Canon for Canon. I have a Nikon 70-200/2.8 which has been great, but it is HEAVY! I spend hours each week with that lens hanging from my shoulder. I needed something lighter. Compared both the Nikon and Tamron, and honestly could not tell a difference in the images. At half the price, the Tamron got my money.

I purchased this lens for its size and weight savings over a 2.8 lens and have to say I have absolutely no regrets. This lens is actually FUN to use. You will get very sharp images with respectable out of focus areas. You will want to update the lens firmware to v.2. Mine shipped with v.1 installed and the lens suffered from some focus hunting from close to infinity during focusing. If you have a Tap-In console that will be a piece of cake. Once updated the lens performs beautifully. I do shoot with a body that has an older autofocus system so your results may differ. I really dont have any negative comments for this lens and with the rebate this lens is an absolute no brainer.

This is a great lens and as good as the 70 200 2.8 in most cases. only for the low light situation, the 2.8 lens has an edge. However, it's lighter and smaller, hence it is much more travel-friendly. Image quality is pretty good. The bokeh is beautiful. It Can be used as regular telephoto and portrait lens.
